It is impossible for us to understand the mercy by which we have been forgiven. It was born of love, filled out by sacrifice and sprinkled with blood. One who has broken the law and is under the threat of judgment knows that he needs mercy. The Judge before whom we come has demonstrated His love for sinners. For those who are truly repentant there is great mercy. This mercy is full of mystery, and it is so far beyond comprehension that it evokes deep worship.
“Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” Micah 7:18-19 (ESV)
