We can be choosing when we don’t realize that we are choosing. Sometimes it is a matter of going back and thinking of things I should have released a long time ago. Even a choice to remain neutral from two opposing opinions is a choice. The impulse to grab a snack or a shiny object can be so subtle that we barely notice it. To be angry and hate, to love and be gentle, to go back or go on, to let go or hold tight, all of these, and more, involve choice. We make some choices to help us avoid harder choices. Even impulses and attitudes are choices. These choices often occur in a nano-second meant to keep us from thinking about what we are doing.
Spirit of God, search our hearts and minds. Enable us to be more conscious about our choices; search our hearts, we pray. Spirit, teach us how to be more intentional and attentive about our walk with You. Amen.
