Good Friday’s cross is why I believe in the God of the Bible.  The gods of the pagans sit above the suffering of humanity in unfeeling indifference.  The God revealed in Scripture is the God of holy love who enters the suffering of His creatures.  The Word who was God “was made flesh and tabernacled among us” (John 1:1-14).  He partakes not only of human suffering, but of death itself.  By entering death He strips death of its power.  He comes out of the grave with a new kind of body, our guarantee of new creation.
