There is a connection between what we do spiritually and the physical world that we inhabit; I call this spiritual ecology. Consider this verse, “And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you” (Leviticus 18:28 NIV). This is more than an analogy; what you do in your moral and ethical life has an effect on creation itself. Immorality, injustice and iniquity is against the very grain of the universe. What you do can make you sick and it can make the world around you sick. Sometimes the land just wants to throw up because of the misbehavior of its inhabitants. On the positive side, just, righteous and holy living radiates from our lives to make the land the kind of place it was meant to be. The first inhabitants were cast out of Eden, for those who follow the Lamb, a new garden, a new Eden awaits (Revelation 21:1-5).
