God made the physical world and declared it good. “God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31a NASB). The created world is not evil; it is good because God made it and declared it so. People who see the world as evil find no need to protect, replenish, and restore creation. We were placed here to tend God’s good planet (Genesis 1:28). To harm its soil, air and water, to trash it, and to fail to renew it, means we will have to face the great Gardner who promises judgment to those who destroy the earth. We cannot claim respect for the Creator if we have none for the creation.
