Jesus is on a mission of uniting Heaven and earth.  “Making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth” (Ephesians 1:9-10 ESV).  He started this union when He Himself became the Temple.  Israel’s temple was the place that heaven and earth met.  It was the place where God dwelt.  Heaven and earth met in the incarnation of our Lord.  Heaven came down to us.  The temple of God “tabernacled among us” (John 1:14), and we saw in Him the glory of the eternal God.  There is not another temple in the future for the followers of the Lamb; He is our Temple.  ”I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb” (Revelation 21:22 NRSV).  Heaven and earth will be made one in the Lamb.  He will complete His mission of uniting all things in heaven and earth (Ephesians 1:9-10).  In Him the spiritual will be united with the physical; Heaven and earth will become one.
