We make two big mistakes in our thinking about the Kingdom of God. One, we think that it is only spiritual, and two, we think that it is only future. In the heavens Christ sits now as the enthroned King of the Kingdom of God, but He taught us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” On the second one, the Kingdom is not only future, for Christ announced over two-thousand years ago, “The Kingdom of God has arrived.” To be accurate we must acknowledge that the Kingdom is both present and future; it is both spiritual and physical. We are in the business, even now, of extending the righteousness and justice of the Kingdom of Heaven to this physical world in which we dwell. It is an integral part of our mission.
