Synergy is defined as, “the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.” Applied to spirituality, it is the interaction and cooperation of the individual and God. God is not bent on acting apart from us. Without spiritual synergy there is no growth or spiritual formation. He works with and through a myriad of unique personalities for a unique expression of Himself. He will do through you what He cannot do through any other.
“Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12b-13 (NRSV)
