Isaiah said, “The barren one has more descendants than the married wife.” How can that be? We are all spiritual descendants of Abraham and his barren wife. We are spiritual descendants of so many who have gone before us in this grand family-of-God tree. We are called, in that tradition, to produce more descendants of Abraham. Evangelize! Disciple! Pray! Go into labor! Give birth to children! Start a group! Plant a church! Teach a class! To whom is the Lord now directing you? Find a way to connect. The Father wants them in the family also.
“Sing, O barren one who did not bear; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate woman will be more than the children of her that is married, says the LORD.” Isaiah 54:1 (NRSV)
