I have a little dog, Spanky, who will watch me on my laptop, respecting my typing time, but the minute I close it, quick as a flash, he jumps into my lap for attention. Spanky has taught me something. He wants my undivided attention. I think sadly of children and grandchildren awaiting time with a parent or grandparent that never comes because they are focused on something else. Oh, how we sin against each other with our busy work and preoccupation. God also awaits our undistracted thoughts, our focused worship.
Father, forgive us for our inattentiveness to You. May we discipline ourselves to be truly with You and those we love.
