Before Pentecost, “They all gave themselves single-heartedly to prayer, with the women, including Mary, Jesus’s mother, and his brothers” Acts 1:14 (Kingdom New Testament, N.T. Wright). We are to love God with our whole heart and being (Deut 6:4-5). Single-heartedness is a both a condition and benefit of the coming Holy Spirit. Single-hearted praying prepared the disciples for the outpoured Spirit. The fullness of the Spirit produces the undivided heart enabling us to love God with our whole being!
“But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul” Deuteronomy 4:29 (NASB).
