“But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you” Matt 6:6 (NRSV). We need some shut-the-door praying, praying that shuts out diversions, sidetracks, to-do lists, wandering thoughts, media distractions, etc. It is not as easy to close the door as we think. It involves mental discipline and continual effort. The Lord knows there are enough winds stirring to blow the door back open. Keep closing it until it is closed and talk to your Father. He is waiting for your undistracted time with Him.
