Paul’s description of his service in Asia was that He was “serving the Lord with all humility and with tears.” Tears are a way of expressing our brokenness. Sometimes they come out as a sobbing from deep within. They become confessions of hurt, loneliness, disappointment, and inner pain. They can come forth as prayers and intercessions for heavenly aid. They wash our eyes to see better. When given to Christ, tears have a cleansing effect.
“When they came to him, he said to them: ‘You yourselves know how I lived among you the entire time from the first day that I set foot in Asia, serving the Lord with all humility and with tears, enduring the trials that came to me through the plots of the Judeans.’” Acts 20:18-19
