“Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body” 1 Cor 6:13 (KJV). The culture has sent out its message that sexual expression is strictly left up to personal inclinations and desires. The culture teaches us to say, “My Body belongs to me, and I can do with it as I please.” The message of Holy Scripture is that our body is for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body (i.e., it is His temple). It is not to be used for forbidden sexual unions (I Cor 6:15-20). It matters to God what we do with our bodies. It even matters how we think about sex (Mt. 5:28).
Lord, we want to belong entirely to you. Enable us to go against cultural trends and even illegitimate passions of the body to be the holy persons You died to make us.
