Some Christians are only interested in theology and “Bible doctrine”. There should not be fear from Christians about other sciences. Psychology, biology, physics, and other sciences need not contradict good theology. Truth cannot contradict truth. Sometimes, interpreting everything in the Bible as literal unnecessarily drives bright minds away from the Bible and the church. What is true in the sciences need not drive us away from the Bible. The study of this planet, the universe and its galaxies, the human body and psyche, animals and plants are all studies in what God has made. All truth is derived from God and all truth is God’s truth. None of us possess truth fully or completely. We are disciples following Jesus and the world He created and sustains (Colossians 1:15-17). Do not try to put Him in your little restrictive box and foolishly think you contain Him or can explain Him. He who has been around billions time billions of light years before you were born cannot be crammed into our little calendars. We have made our God and His Christ way too small. Forgive us, Holy One!
“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up your loins like a man, I will question you, and you shall declare to me. Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.” Job 38:2-4 (NRSV) (See Job 38-39)
