Jesus gave a powerful analogy for critical people. Sawdust and planks in the eyes! You cannot get the sawdust out of your brother’s eye when you are banging him with the plank in your own eye. If we can learn to see our own faults as greater than those of others, it will solve so many problems that divide us. Do not join the sawdust police! Let the Holy Spirit show you what needs to be corrected in your own life, then you can turn in your critic’s badge.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye” Matthew 7:3-5 (NIV).
