We are saved by the totality of who Jesus was as well as what He did. We are saved by the life, death and resurrection of the Son of God. When the Bible says we are “saved by His life,” it means that the life of Jesus in us gives life to us. We were reconciled for that purpose. The “Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead” lives inside of us. This Christ-life in us is our “hope of glory.” His life rescues our life from death by dwelling in us.
“For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life.” Romans 5:10 (NRSV)
