When we have a practice or habit that we are trying to correct in our lives, we learn that our discipline must be strong, not indulging our desires.  Wasting time, excessive media, our weight, our diet, our exercise program, neglect of prayer and Scripture, regular devotional life, and the assembly of believers all need decisive, disciplined action.  We like comfort.  We like to do what we like to do; that is why we do it.  What we like is not always in our best interest.  We know we need discipline, but we postpone it to a more convenient season.  In this regard, do not pamper yourself, but apply resolute self-discipline.

Holy Spirit, work in my life to reproduce Your fruit, which includes self-control.  Help me to make up my mind and then come to my aid as I seek to live out discipline in ways that will make me a stronger disciple.  Amen.
