Resisting the Holy Spirit is way more than disobedience. At the heart of this sin is resisting His grace, and its unceasing flow through us. We were all meant to be channels of grace, showing to the world God’s true character. How then do we resist? We do so by failing to give the same flow of grace to others that God is flowing toward us. “Working together with Christ, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain” 2 Corinthians 6:1 (ESV). Grace is “in vain” when it stops with us. We resist grace by holding those sinners, the ones that we classify as “the worst”, at arm’s length. We do so by taking our self-righteous seats and making our “ain’t-it-awful” speeches. We are not here to curse the darkness, but to allow grace to flow from us to the darkness. Grace has Light in it. The world will continue to stumble in the dark until the flow of our harsh words are replaced with letting grace flow.
