At the moment of Jesus’ death the 90 ft. tall veil in the temple was split from top to bottom, opening the way into the Most Holy Place.  The event would likely have been witnessed at that hour by a priest burning incense.  For Christians, a new and Living Way is opened through Christ the New Temple, no more animal sacrifices; the approach to God has forever changed by our Mediator. Yet the temple would continue to function for 35 plus years until 70 A.D.  This meant that priests would need to repair this thick massive curtain, priests no longer serving God, but working against Him.  How do you close what God has opened?  Why do we resort to finding other ways around God’s way?  Self-serving institutions and people will always try!  Christ also brought down the barriers between Jew and Gentile, male and female, and all ethnic and racial groups.  Repairing God-torn barriers is degenerate and diabolical work.  Christ, via the cross, has opened the door, “the open door which no one can shut” (Revelation 3:8).

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.  And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom”  (Matthew 27:50-51a).
