It is so easy for us to rely on lots of things besides God. We have a desire for self-sufficiency and independence. We want to be on our own. “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12, NASB). We must rely fully on God and not our own wisdom, our training, our life experiences, our positive attitude, our resources, our stoicism, nor our strong will. Unless the Lord builds our spiritual house, we labor in vain (Ps 127:1).
