You know what they are, old, tired and trite phrases that no longer communicate to the hearers, nor even to the speakers. There are those who know how to use the accepted phrases of a religious culture in their conversations, testimonies and prayers to gain acceptance among their religious peers. These folks have nothing fresh in their language that show that they are really walking with the Lord. There is no romance. There is no depth, no joy and no new treasures uncovered. Sincere love, genuine integrity and intimate worship with God can free us from the trite, enabling us to taste the real adventure of walking with our Lord, and maintain vitality in the relationship.
Father, may our relationship with You be so fresh and new each day that we always have to struggle to find the words to express what You mean to us.
