What do you do when religion becomes a burden? Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The context of this verse is addressed to the people who had been laden down with the joyless oppressive religion of the Pharisees. True worship of the Father is meant to take away legal striving and give us soul rest, joy, and peace. Come to Jesus’ way of living and embrace His teachings. His yoke frees us from burdensome religion. This does not mean that we bear no burdens and have no problems. It means His yoke is not the burden nor the problem. His yoke is the best way to deal with life.
