God turns bad things around to produce good. It may be tragedy, sickness, pain and accidents. Given into His hands, these are made to serve a greater purpose. God by grace uses them to refine our character. As Jesus “learned obedience through the things He suffered,” so our sufferings refine us to be like Jesus. Gold and silver are refined by fire. “Everyone will be salted with fire” (Mk 9:49). Holy God, come to us as Refining Fire in the midst of our tests.
