“In the way of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death” (Proverbs 12:28, NASB). Compare this with Romans (6:13, 19, 22) where we are told to offer ourselves to God as slaves of righteousness, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome of eternal life. Righteousness is right living based on Jesus’ teachings. It is to live in right relationship with our fellow humans by compassionate action, meeting human needs wherever we find them. Life is embedded in the practice of righteousness. That is why life is its outcome. To live righteously is really living.
