When believers die they go into the presence of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:6-8). It is certainly the end of suffering, but it is not resurrection. The resurrection is not a spiritual event when we die. The resurrection is a physical event. You will get your new body the same day Peter and Paul get theirs, along with all the saints of all time. Christians do not deny but affirm the physical resurrection of Jesus from actual death. Christians do not deny but affirm the physical resurrection of those who have died in Christ. We will arise because He arose! Hallelujah!
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (NASB)
