Christians believe that the Scriptures are “God breathed” (i.e. inspired); they came into being by “Spirit breath”. There are people now attacking the Scripture and others who claim that it is inspired where neither group reads it, especially reading with an ear to the Spirit. This is miles beyond looking for texts for our arguments. An unread Bible leaves the inspiration out of our lives that we so need; our souls starve for a lack of hearing the Voice by reading. The old folks used to sing about “dust on the Bible”. Unread, it will leave dust on our dry souls. We need to read it privately and publicly; we need inspired souls.
“Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.” 1 Timothy 4:13 (NIV).
