We are rational beings.  We know our behavior should follow some inner reason.  Oftentimes, when we seek to rationalize our behavior we fall into a kind of self-deception.  What we might condemn in others we condone in ourselves.  Honest self-examination is not an easy road to take.  It requires openness to the word of God, the inner checks of the Holy Spirit and even being open to a friend who will speak clear truth to us.  Honesty and sincerity, strengthened by prayer and repentance will make us genuine in our faith and believable in our testimony.

“Examine yourself…if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment.” 1 Corinthians 11:28b, 31 (NIV)
