It is not easy for a person who has suffered some great injury to forgive the other person. Most of the time it can’t happen on the day of the crime or injury. Forgiveness is the end of a painful process. Yet, even while Jesus was being crucified, He was saying, “Father forgive them. They do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). This was no painless forgiving! The Father had already grieved over human sin. The process of forgiveness was eternally settled in the heart of the Father and His Son when the Son left heaven. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
