Doing works of mercy and justice requires more than our silent support. William Wilberforce could have allowed himself to be comfortable with a private opposition to slavery without getting publicly involved to change it. John Wesley and Charles Colson could have sat quietly with a personal outrage toward the treatment of prisoners, but they did not. Nor have others sat on the sideline to watch children and women victimized by human sex trafficking. Abuse, unmentored teens, drug scarred and hungry children, neglected seniors and multiple other causes call us to come alongside and help in some way. Get involved, lend your voice, give your time, give your money and give your prayers. This is Kingdom business.
When you say, ”Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?” James 2:16
