There are parts of our journey that we may not like; unpleasant sights and sounds, cluttered and trashed places, and pathetic souls decimated by sin. What we like is to see pretty things and be uplifted by warm feelings. God is ever trying to get us to see things through His eyes, so that we can be hearts and hands that make a difference. Unpleasant things may become opportunities to be Jesus to the hurting. Injustice may be a chance for us to show justice and mercy. We must never despise where we are, because it may make us miss what we are supposed to do and to be.
Father, forgive us for complaining about difficult places and times. Help us to be faithful in all places and at all times. May we not miss the privileges we have of serving you wherever we are today. Empower us to show your grace. Amen!
