Jesus’ exile to Egypt was God’s protection of Him for future ministry. Jesus was filled with the Spirit just prior to His exile in the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. The Spirit in Jesus during this exile is a reminder to us that God goes into exile with us. He is with us in the wilderness. Never forget it. He is with us when things are not neat and tidy.
“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil” Luke 4:1-2a (NASB).
