As a pastor I have sat beside the bed of believers as they transitioned out of this life to be received into the Presence of the Lord. Some still stand out in my memory. It is sacred beyond solemnity. I often felt I was standing on holy ground. There was a sense that “the Lord is in this place”. There is another side to it beyond the earthly side; there is God’s perspective, the heavenly side. The One who notices the fall of a sparrow is alway gloriously present with the passing of His children. It is precious to Him. “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15 NIV). Oh, to live and die as one of His, and to hear Him say, “Well done” will make every mile, burden and pain disappear into glorious bliss.
