Some do not pray, because their experiences, shaped by a particular view of God, say that pray does not help. In this view of God, every detail is already willed, decreed and predetermined. There is another view of God that sees God and humans joined in partnership, in which God commits Himself to work with humans. The OT presents God as relenting from judgment in response to prayer or repentance. We forget that the Exodus began when God said that He had “given heed to their cry.” The Father, in pity, hears the cries of His children, to bring about new outcomes. Pour out your heart. Pray to Him at all times and places. His heart is with you. Prayer matters!
The LORD said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.” Exodus 3:7 (NASB)
