Probably one of the most challenging things we have to do is to practice what we preach and live the truth we endorse; it is a must.  It requires connecting truth to life; it requires self-discipline.  It prevents us from floating down stream.  It sets us on a course to personally follow truth as opposed to merely espousing truth.  The alternative to this is hypocrisy, and thus to sully the cause of truth by the lives we live.  Living and practicing truth leads to real character development; it is to grow in holiness.

“The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.  So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.  They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.” Matthew 23:2-4 (NIV)
