Some of us do not need the Accuser (Satan) since we can become our own accuser. Beating ourselves up over past decisions and actions only serves to abuse ourselves; it serves to destroy the present moment. The way out of this accusing cycle is to know that God loves us and has truly forgiven us. We cannot be taken in by accusing voices, be they Satan, other people, or even ourselves. We can say, “Get behind me Satan” by refusing to do his work for him.
Lord Jesus, thank You for the victory You won over the Accuser in the wilderness and finally on the cross. Teach us to resist the accusing voice by listening to the affirming voice of Your love, grace and mercy toward us. Amen!
