Nothing shows more clearly the equality of women in spreading the gospel than their persecution. In the NT, women, by their gospel witness, were seen as an equal threat to the established order as men. The pre-conversion Paul was on an angry mission to arrest both men and women, binding them, bringing them for trial, imprisonment and death. Women today encounter persecution all over the world as they stand for their faith. Often this persecution comes from their own families, generally borne in silence out of public view. Pray for these, our sisters, to be firm in their witness.
“Paul went to the high priest “and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.” Acts 9:2 (NASB)
