It is easy to love people who love you. The test, to see if the love that works in us is God’s kind of love, is if we can love unconditionally. (See Matthew 5:43-48). It is here that Jesus redefines “Be holy for God is Holy”, to “Be perfect as your Father is perfect.” Perfect means “complete” or “fulfilling one’s intended purpose”. Jesus says that purpose is to pour out love on others like sunshine and rain, because that is what God does.
