The Sunday after Pentecost is celebrated as Trinity Sunday.  Trinity was not “thought up by the church” as some naive historians have suggested.  God revealed Himself as Father, came to humanity as incarnate Son, and was poured out on the church as Holy Spirit.  Trinity is a celebration of the salvation history of the One God, who over time and in history has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit – One God!

Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.” Mark 1:10-11 (NASB)
