The people of Christ are to be a peace making and peace loving people. Jesus said that they would be called the children of God. This, of course, is contrary to loving controversies, and provoking or perpetuating conflicts. At the heart of peace making is to lay down one’s weapons, to put away the sword, and to cease striving with flesh and blood. Peace loving persons choose their words carefully and monitor their attitude even more carefully. We can love peace, because the battle is the Lord’s. We can give up being right to the One who will judge rightly.
