When I review the history of how my own views have evolved, I need to remember to be patient with the people around me who are now where I was.  So much of our evolving understanding and spiritual formation happens over long periods of time.  It is a kind of self-righteousness and arrogance that allows me to be impatient with the lack of growth and development of those around me.  We have all had our stumbling toddlerhood and our awkward adolescence; go love someone who is where you once were.  That is growth too, you know.

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (Ephesians 4:2–3 NLT)
