The speaking of the Spirit is more than important to our formation. “He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches” (Revelation 2 & 3). He is not through speaking yet. We hear the culture! Do we hear the Spirit? We are well versed in our own opinions. Do we hear the overruling word of the Spirit to our opinions? The Spirit speaks up for and promotes Jesus. He searches out un-Christlikeness in us. We are to “grieve not” and to “quench not” the Spirit. His goal is to form us like Jesus. If we are going to be shaped more and more like Jesus then we will need to know how to daily partner with the Spirit to meet that holy goal.
