We think we have surrendered all, but most of us have not. We thought we had died to all, but we find we have not. We find this out when we face things that disturb our being at the center. We simplify surrender because we do not want to deal with the deeper issues of our lives. There is a once-for-all surrender, and there is a daily surrender. Daily surrender comes with the unfolding of our lives. We fight to keep ourselves, and then wonder why God seems distant. We will come to know Him in more intimate ways when we die with Him.
