Connecting Advent and Holiness
Jesus suffering outside of the city of Jerusalem was part of being fully rejected, but according to Hebrews 13:11, it fulfilled the “offering for sin being burned outside the camp” by the high priest. This act of our incarnate Lord was an act of sanctification for the people. This act outside the gate is a call for the followers of Christ to go to Him outside the camp, thus participating in His rejection and receiving the “holy-making” sacrifice.
“Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate. So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach”. (Hebrews 13:12-13 NASB)
