“The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth (Psalm 145:17-18 ESV). Righteousness is about right relationship. It is to be right, as in just and compassionate with other humans. It is God’s desire to live in relationship with us. Therefore, He wants to be near; when we call on Him in truth, He responds to that. He is the Shepherd who hears the cry of His sheep. He is the judge who wants to respond in mercy. He is the Father who wraps a child in gracious arms and says, “I love you”. Draw near; call on Him. We need a right relationship with our Righteous King.
