Jesus has come to clean up our inner space, to change us from the inside out. He warned that if the house is swept clean of a demon, and nothing fills that empty space, then that demon comes back with seven more. Aristotle said, “Nature abhors a vacuum.” The secret of life is to be intentional about what goes into that vacuum. Without watchfulness, it will draw in garbage. We were not meant to be empty. We are cleansed to be filled. We are washed for the renewal of the Spirit. Father, fill the inner space of our being with Your Spirit, so that there is no room for what is contrary to You!
“When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.” Luke 11:24-26 (NLT)
