Our final destination as a Christian pilgrim is not a place but a Person. Our goal is not heaven but the One who dwells there. We are not into the idolatry of worshiping Heaven. There are many songs that glorify Heaven, raising a great shout for it, but say little to nothing about Jesus. We are not going merely to see the house of the Lord but the Lord of the house. We will never arrive at home until we arrive to the One who is the Temple, the sum-total and Object of all our worship. He is our Companion on the journey, the Way and our Final Destination. He walks with us as a fellow pilgrim and awaits us at the end of journey. Home is where He is!
Once heaven seemed a far-off place,
Till Jesus showed His smiling face.
Now it’s begun within my soul;
“Twill last while endless ages roll. -C. F. Butler
