How do you humble yourself to get below: the Babe born in a cattle stall and laid in a manger, the One who became poor to enrich you with grace, the King who rides a donkey, the Messiah who washes feet, the Master who became a slave for you, the One who was God and became human, the One who died on a cross for you, and the One Who by His own death defeated your death? This model of the humility of our Lord should create genuine humility in us.
“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:5-8 (NASB)
