As life unfolds, so does self-discovery. We keep learning things about ourselves, even after we have walked a long time with the Lord, that previously were not at a conscious level. When the light of God shines into the deep places of our heart and mind, discoveries about ourselves are made. There is a need to bring these to a conscious level by recognition, confession and surrender for ongoing cleansing. This is what builds the character of Christlikeness. This is how the process of sanctification works.
Lord, keep me honest before you. I remember yielding my all to you in total surrender. I want to be true to that by living it out everyday. Show myself to me. You know it better than I. Show me the roots of words and actions. Show me why I did this or that. I want my spirit to live in harmony with the Spirit of Christ. When you show myself to me, may I never excuse or explain, but cry out for a deeper and deeper work in my soul. Oh, Consuming Fire, run through me! Amen!
