“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:14–15 ESV). Why is my forgiveness tied to the way I forgive others? Jesus came as the King who announced Jubilee (Luke 4:18-19). He also announced forgiveness from His own cross. All we have to do is receive the forgiveness of Jubilee AND extend the same Jubilee to others. We are called to live in that Jubilee. I cannot be into the celebration of my Jubilee without extending it to you. I do not understand Jubilee and neither am I in Jubilee if I do not extend what God has given me to you. It is all of one piece; I cannot be forgiven without forgiving you. Think on these things!
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19 (ESV). This is Jesus’ proclamation of Jubilee.
